Synchronize Folders
If you need to synchronize files between a laptop and a desktop, compare the contents of two directories, make a mirror copy of some folders on another disk, copy photos from a digital camera or simply update a backup folder with the latest copies of the files you've been working on, AllSync is just what you need! It's the most powerful tool available for comparing and updating the contents of folders, and its attractive user interface, context sensitive help and comprehensive Wizards makes it extremely easy to use.AllSync is more than just an application for ensuring that your laptop and desktop always have the latest versions of the files you're working on. It's versatile enough to handle all your file synchronizing, copying and backup needs.
AllSync lets you create multiple tasks or projects, each representing a pair of folders (and subfolders - folder trees) and the rules to be used when updating them. A project can quickly be chosen at start-up, making it easy to re-synchronize directories whenever you want.
Folders can be on separate computers, like a notebook and a desktop; they can be on separate drives (creating a mirror disk) or on the same hard disk. You can even synchronize between your PC and an FTP server! An easy-to-use Wizard interface walks you through creating the settings for each task. The well-designed user interface makes it clear what you are doing: you even have a choice of graphical icons to represent the two computers or folders involved.
AllSync offers a choice of views of your data. Unique to this product is a dual Explorer view. Files and folders in the tree to be synchronized are shown a two-pane view similar to Windows Explorer, but with extra color coding showing which files or folders are present in the left or right folder tree, or in both.
The Synchronize List view allows you to preview the effect of synchronization before it happens. The files and folders that are to be transferred are listed, together with arrows showing the direction of transfer.
If you're happy with what you see, you can then sync the chosen directories with the click of a button. The program creates a report listing all the files that were transferred, giving you a record of exactly what has happened.
Versatility and attention to detail are factors that set AllSync apart from the competition. Usually, files are compared using the file time-stamp to see which is newest. Because time-stamps of files on FAT file systems are rounded to the nearest two seconds, AllSync has an option to ignore such small differences. As an alternative, files may be updated in one direction only depending on whether they are larger, or smaller, or simply different.
Safety is another benefit of this outstanding product. Have you ever lost work because you made changes to both copies of a file before remembering to synchronize the folders? Not with AllSync. The program has a backup option that will create copies of every file that is overwritten, and allows recovery of any archived version. So even if you just don't like the changes you made, you can get the old version back.
AllSync comes with his own scheduler for easy automation of synchronization tasks. There is also an option to receive an emailed copy of the synchronize report - useful for unattended tasks.
We believe that AllSync is one of the best folder synchronization utilities for Windows currently available, and probably one of the easiest to use.
